School closures affect girls in many ways, often with long-term consequences. Once girls are taken out of schools, the probability of them going back is very low. When they are in school, they are less likely to be forced into marriage and be abused sexually.

The AU/CIEFFA has launched the #Africa Educates Her campaign to bring awareness around issues that have prevented girls from having access to continued learning and a rallying call for youth to take action as schools are re-opening in Africa.
