The COVID-19 pandemic is an opportunity to forge stronger, more trusting relationships between parents and teachers. Grades have a powerful influence on students. They reflect the teacher’s judgment of students’ level of achievement and, ideally, provide students with information they can use to improve their performance. But grades also have been shown to have strong and lasting effects on students’ attitudes, behaviors, and motivation to learn.
