As the world grappled with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, education leaders and practitioners from around the globe gathered virtually on 15–16 December 2020 for RewirEdX, an international conference on education. This event was a collaboration between Dubai Cares and Expo 2020 Dubai, in close coordination with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC).
RewirEdX brought together Ministers of Education, high-profile speakers, and panelists from U.N. agencies, international NGOs, academia, and representatives from the public and private sectors globally.
During the conference, global education leaders and featured speakers reflected on the lessons learned throughout the year and emphasized the new reality of education and learning in a post-COVID-19 world.
Sessions at RewirEdX focused on the impact of COVID-19 on education worldwide, revisiting assumptions about remote learning and school closures, the urgency of connectivity, and educational perspectives for 2021.
The 2020 virtual conference served as a precursor to the December 2021 RewirEd Summit, which took place at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), co-located at the Expo 2020 Dubai site in Dubai.
Aims of RewirEdX
Enhance knowledge-sharing and connectivity between education policymakers and practitioners by sharing, discussing and debating perspectives and real-life experiences in response to COVID-19, and the new reality that follows
Inspire and evoke participants to think beyond ‘business as usual’ by presenting emerging provocations with the aim of triggering motivation and potential pathways for cross-sector collaborations and co-creation for the future of education
Build consensus on key priorities and themes to take forward to RewirEd Summit
